Hi Everyone,

Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself in this introductory thread.

I'll begin...

I am the Producer-Director of "Dalai Lama Renaissance," and feel grateful that I have had the opportunity to be a part of a project that is inspiring and moving people.

One of the most satisfying aspects of the film so far is to attend the screenings of "Dalai Lama Renaissance" at film festivals, and speak with audiences during the Q&A, and hear how the film has impacted them.

I live in Los Angeles, and... look forward to traveling with the film to meet audiences around the world.

Khashyar

hi, my name is grayson. i have not yet seen the dalai lama movie but it can no doubt impact all that experience it for the positive. it is so important to connect with as wide an audience as possible on the need for peace and nonviolence in our world, which are essentially the same things because there can be no peace with violence still in exsistance. youre a good man khashyar !

i am constantly seeking for ways to better myself as a human being and a spirit as well as ways to benefit all that live in our world including our earth. i am currently practicing zen buddhism but by no means label myself as a zen buddhist, which would just add to the ego which i strive to eliminate, but instead tell those inquiring that i am a human being. it matters not which religion or teachings i practice, they are all the same at the core. it only matters how i live my life and what kind of example i am to others. actions not words. but of course i speak nothing but words of encouragement for anyone interested in religion or spirituality of any form because the more people practice any religion or spirituality, the greater the chance for peace and nonviolence grows.

i wish to do great things for truth and peace in the world but currently have only found small ways to help. every good deed adds to the collective whole but i am constantly searching for the great ways in which i can benefit the world. if anyone has any ideas please let me know. thanks, peace, and love.

grayson

Hi Grayson,

It sounds like you're already benefitting the world just by asking the questions you're asking ("how can I help?") and reaching out to connect with people. Also focusing on peace and on being positive. That is all so important, and the energy you put out has a ripple effect. You are already being the change you wish to see in the world.

Khashyar (and Grayson) - The film made a major impression on me. I saw it in Orlando last September at the Global Peace Film Festival. I think about it all the time. I was just speaking to a friend about it tonight, so I Googled it to see if the DVD were available yet. That's when I found this forum!

I'm looking forward to being part of this community and sharing with others who are moved by the film and/or by the wisdom and constant loving kindness of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The film was very well done. I was telling my friend how all these "great thinkers" were gathered into one place. Ego really took over -- you could see it (and feel it) happening. When they were finally able to be in the presence of HH, you could see it wash away as he spoke to them. Suddenly, their self-importance meant nothing (to them), and they were completely engaged in what he had to say. It was simple - and yet it was everything. They were transformed and so was the audience I was part of.

When asked in the film if he wanted the West to support a ban on Chinese goods, he said "no" because it would hurt too many Chinese people. He said "We must always think of humanity first." The words "humanity first" have resonated with me to the point that I made it my mantra. It's a great reminder.

Anyway - welcome to the community. I'm excited to be here! Keep up the good work.
Debbie (aka TibetBudd)

Hey, I'm Yogi McCaw and I am happy to have been able to contribute music to the movie. There are some sequences from music i recorded in India with some dear friends who are very talented Indian classical musicians. We are listed in the credits as The Yoginis. Usually the music we recorded is heard in the scenes where the group is traveling through India.

We feel grateful to be able to contribute something to this film, and blown away to have material in the film along with such great musicians as Techung and Roop Verma.

I have seen the film a few times. I find it alternating between funny and thought-provoking.

I was fortunate to see His Holiness here in Seattle this spring. Some frineds, inckuding my roommate here, played music in a percussion ensemble right in front of the stage when he spoke at the Seahawks Stadium.

I hope every person in a leadership position who meet His Holiness has the good sense to use him as the model of a true leader. He has had a couple of meetiongs with George W Bush. I think W could use about a thousand more sessions with His Holiness, but that's probably a different discussion..;)

HI Grayson,

I am Jennifer and we hosted 3 showings of the film. It was a powerful tool that evoked thought and compassion in my community. I am honored to have been contacted to host a showing and feel that my prayers were answered when I asked, "how can I serve?"

I practice yoga and we ask three questions of ourself to help get past our ego. Without our ego, there is compassion and happiness. This is a great technique for anyone who wishes to serve humanity.

I started asking myself in meditation, "who am I?" and listened to the answer.
"What do I want, what do I really want?" and listened to the answer.
and.... "How can I serve?" and listened to the answer.

I do this at least 3 x per week if not every day. I find different answers and the same answers. Try it and see what you hear........... Love Jen

Hello, I am new to this posting threads thing, please excuse me. My name is Jennifer and I am happy and priveledged to have hosted this film in Loveland, Colorado and am excited about the seed it has planted and see it growing amazingly. Even in the few moments after our showings I could see a change in the compassion of the audience. I hope this message finds you all with great hope in your hearts and peace, happiness and loving kindness.

We had our showing at the Historic Rialto Theatre in Loveland which is the center of our community. If you have a theatre like ours, it is not a difficult task to be of service to Wakan Films by hosting a showing. Please consider hosting your own showing. The film company is very helpful and make it no trouble at all to enjoy hosting the film, they even provide the advertising materials. Take a look at the site and see if this is something you feel your are able to do. Love Jen

Hi everybody!
I just happened to enter to this site and was happy to see a film about Dalai Lama being produced. Unfortunately I still have to wait for a while before I'll have the possibility to see it (I'm Finnish...). HH the Dalai Lama has been my greatest teacher for many years by now. I'm a practisioner of Buddhism, or as Dalai Lama would put it, "my religious is kindness". Already the trailer of the film was an inspiration for me! There is a great lack for this kind of films and documentaries; what a happiness it is to see a film such as this being made.

Grayson, your introduction could have been the same as my introduction, I share your thoughts a lot!

Jennifer, thank you for your advice for practise, I will try it in my meditations for the next weeks!

Is there any other Finns who are waiting this film as much as I am?

One smile from Finland,

Canela

Hi

The most important thing I want to say about myself is that I am passionate about "synthesis" and spend much time in my spiritual life and community life meditating on it in various ways. I am gratified to see the trend toward "collaborative" efforts, excited about the possibilities on every level and not discouraged by the "realities". I find purpose and inspiration in this.

I am on a "spiritual path" and have never specifically related to the Dalai Llama for whatever reason but this documentary was a vehicle for transmission from the Dalai Lllama for me. I laughed, I cried and I was enlivened by not just him but the entire process. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am grateful and will definitely want to buy the DVD and share it with others!
