Hello Everyone,
This is the discussion thread where we can speak about Fred Alan Wolf's character in "Dalai Lama Renaissance."
What did you learn most from Fred's character in the film?
What things that Fred said stood out most in your mind?

What I got from Fred's dialogue was that the structure, or the particular structure that was being chosen to facilitate the "synthesis" was interfering with the process! How many times have I been in what starts out to be a compassionate, process for the higher good, only to be broken down in effectiveness by "limiting" the process, cutting it short for whatever reason...Not allowing enough time for synthesis to occur because of some idea of how quickly we should come to a goal or having preconceived notions about what the outcome should look like!
What did I learn from his character? I don't know, not enough of the dialogue included in the film but I'm trying to use the opportunity to get acquainted with what I perceive his character to be in myself. Everyone seemed to think he was an "asshole" for pointing out that the structure was interfering with the synthesis. Why was he anymoreso than anyone else expressing their opinions. Was it the way he did it? Did that make him less than? Maybe sometimes it takes someone to shake things up with a passionate attitude? Maybe sometimes it takes a more COMpassionate attitude? I'm not sure but food for thought...
