Fran Korten - Biography:

 

 

Fran Korten: Fran is the Executive Director of the Positive Futures Network. In that post she works to build the momentum in the United States for actions, policies, and a public consciousness based on the values of justice, sustainability, and compassion. To that end, she has helped significantly expand the visibility and circulation of YES! magazine; has developed the State of the Possible retreat series; and supports PFN's partnerships and networking with many other social change organizations. Prior to heading PFN, she spent 20 years as a program officer at the Ford Foundation's offices in Manila, Jakarta, and New York. In each of those posts, she helped bring about substantial policy and institutional reforms by creating common agendas among visionary leaders from the governmental, nongovernmental, and academic sectors. She has edited several books including "Transforming a Bureaucracy," and has authored numerous articles on peoples' participation, community management of water and forests, and organizational change. She taught at Harvard University and the national university of Ethiopia and served as a research associate for the Central American Management Institute (INCAE). She holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Stanford
